Rockford High School Jazz Band to Be Featured Performers at the 2025 Michigan Music Conference
Rockford, MI — January 8, 2025 — The Rockford High School Jazz Band is proud to announce that it has been selected as a featured jazz ensemble at the prestigious 2025 Michigan Music Conference (MMC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Their performance will take place at 2:30pm in the Ambassador Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. This exciting opportunity allows the band to showcase their exceptional talent and jazz musical skills in front of an audience of family and friends, music educators, students, and enthusiasts from across the state.
Under the direction of Cullen McCarthy, the Rockford High School Jazz Band will perform a dynamic program that includes a mix of classic jazz standards and contemporary compositions. 2025 marks the second time the RHS Jazz Band has been selected to perform at the Michigan Music Conference. They were previously selected to perform in 2021.
“We are blessed and honored to be selected to perform at the Michigan Music Conference,” said Mr. McCarthy. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to perform at a high level, representing not only the jazz program at Rockford High School but also the entire community of Rockford. The students have worked incredibly hard to prepare, and we look forward to sharing our passion for jazz with such a distinguished audience.”
The Michigan Music Conference features school ensemble concerts, performances from Honors Choirs, All-State Bands, and Orchestras, as well as professional development clinics, workshops, and sessions for in-service and pre-service music teachers. General admission tickets for the MMC performance can be purchased at the DeVos Ticket Office or on Ticketmaster here. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 11-17; and children 10 and under are free.
The Rockford community is invited to a free preview of the RHS Jazz Band’s program held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 7pm in the Rockford High School Auditorium. Admission is free.
