North Rockford Middle School Symphonic Band to Perform at the 2025 Michigan Music Conference

Rockford, MI — January 8, 2025 — The North Rockford Middle School (NRMS) Symphonic Band has been selected to perform at the highly esteemed 2025 Michigan Music Conference, scheduled for 8am on Friday, January 24, 2025, in the Steelcase Ballroom at DeVos Place (Grand Rapids, Michigan). This exciting performance provides a unique opportunity for the talented band students of NRMS to showcase their exceptional skills and passion for music on a state-level stage.

Directed by Cullen McCarthy, the NRMS Symphonic Band will present a carefully curated program featuring a mix of traditional band music and contemporary pieces, demonstrating their technical precision and artistry. The band’s inclusion in this prestigious conference is a testament to the students’ dedication, hard work, and the strong tradition of excellence in music education at Rockford Public Schools. 2025 marks the 6th time the North Rockford Symphonic Band has received the honor to perform at the Michigan Music Conference. They were selected in 2005, 2008, 2013, 2017, and 2020.

“This performance at the Michigan Music Conference is a monumental achievement for our students, and we couldn’t be more proud,” said McCarthy, Band Director at NRMS. “The students have put in countless hours of practice and preparation to deliver a memorable performance, and this is a wonderful opportunity to represent the musical talent coming out of Rockford. We’re blessed to perform for an audience of family and friends, as well as music educators from across the state of Michigan.”

The Michigan Music Conference features school ensemble concerts, performances from Honors Choirs, All-State Bands, and Orchestras, as well as professional development clinics, workshops, and sessions for in-service and pre-service music teachers. General admission tickets for the MMC performance can be purchased at the DeVos Ticket Office or on Ticketmaster here. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 11-17; and children 10 and under are free.

The Rockford community is invited to a free preview of the NRMS Symphonic Band’s program held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 7pm in the Rockford High School Auditorium. Admission is free.
